Phoniatrics in Germany

The German Society of Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology (DGPP) has 283 members. In addition there are about 25 colleagues who are not yet organised in the DGPP.

Phoniatrics is combined with pedaudiology and in this combination an independent medical specialty. To become a specialist for phoniatrics and pedaudiology, an advanced training in otorhinolaryngology for 2 years and in phoniatrics and pedaudiology for 3 years is regulated. Other colleagues have a full specialisation in otorhinolaryngology. In these cases, the advanced training in phoniatrics and pedaudiology can be reduced to 2 ½ years.
